ABORIGINAL HERITAGE

finns-rapids5.jpg

There are many historic Aboriginal sites in the Manningham municipal area but very few of these are formally identified or listed as archaeological heritage sites. However, if you know what to look for, they are still there, hiding in plain sight. The fish traps at Finns Reserve in Templestowe are just such an example.

Reconciliation Manningham acknowledges the Woiwurrung language people of the Kulin Federation as the traditional custodians and curators of the Yarra Valley Estate, the land we now all share.

We pay respects to their Elders past and present, and take pride as Australians, in sharing this heritage of the world’s oldest living culture.
